newVoices, an Appleton-based semi-professional community choir, welcomes top choral singers from Fox Valley and Bay Area high schools to participate in this annual program. Young singers have an opportunity to sing under the direction of Dr. Phillip Swan, Co-Director of Choral Studies at Lawrence University, in an ensemble of adult voices. Students hone their musical skills and learn that choral singing can be a lifelong skill.
Students are recommended by their choral conductors and join newVoices for the fall concert cycle. Students are nominated in the spring of each school year and participate in Sunday afternoon rehearsals from August-October. The rehearsals culminate in an October performance at the Lawrence University Memorial Chapel in Appleton.
