Spring Choir Concert
Hello parents, students, alumni, and friends of the Kimberly High School Choirs!
Our final concert of the 2020-21 school year, “Finale”, is quickly approaching! This two-night event will feature our auxiliary ensembles performing on May 18 in the auditorium at 6:00 PM. Our core choirs will perform on May 19 in the gym at 7:00 PM.
One thing that remains the same throughout every school year (pandemic or no pandemic) is the bittersweet farewell after every spring choir concert. This is the last time that the ensembles with these specific people will get to perform, and it’s the last chance for the seniors to cement their legacies in the Kimberly Choir program. We are so incredibly proud of the work that the seniors have put into this program for the past 4 years, and we cannot wait to see what their futures hold.
As we reflect on this past year, we could not be more proud of this program. We have persevered through all of the challenges of a year like no other. When we started school in the fall, we discussed what would be different throughout the year. But more importantly, we discussed what would stay the same. The musicianship that will be on display for this concert is the same as it always has been. In times like these, it’s important to know how your life is still the same. It gives us hope to know that -- someday -- things will be normal again, and that means for us as a choir program that students will -- someday -- be back to rehearsing in the choir room and standing shoulder to shoulder.
Looking back, we have also had the opportunity to embrace the many challenges of this year. During this school year, our choir program has managed to put together many events to help the community. For Halloween, we were able to put together a costume contest to help with COVID relief. During the holidays, we held a food drive to help those in our local community. This spring, we were able to have a penny war (choir vs. band) where all the proceeds went to the nonprofit, “Love One International.” This nonprofit organization that provides medical help to children in Uganda.
As we see the world taking steps into the future, we hope that the music you hear at our concerts gives you the feeling of growth. Over the past year, we as students have seen each other grow as both people and musicians. This year we feel that we have seized the opportunity given to us. We’ve learned that life gives you opportunities for a reason, and it’s up to us to take them. In Concert Choir's song “Finale B”, you will hear the words of composer, Jonathan Larson, as he tells us all to seize the moment:
“No day but today.”
As we reflect on this year of music-making, we feel so incredibly fortunate and humbled to have served as your Co-presidents this past school year. It’s an opportunity that we will never forget.

PLEASE NOTE: This concert is NOT open to the public due to COVID-19 protocols. Each choir member will receive up to four tickets per concert for family members to attend.
